[Author’s note: This poem was written in 2009. It is titled after — and inspired by — an art installation that was at Washtenaw Community College at the time]
I saw devices contrived from a mind projected 50 years forward. A tapestry hung covered in star-shaped satellites. Chairs covered the open space – only three looked comfortable. All in tacky colors. A cart – a futuristic chamber pot – offended my Victorian sensibilities But the openess delighted my want to pee everywhere. Practicality engulfed the room – portable shelter straw bringing life spring-loaded Death All designed to bring Dignity.
Excellent!
